Se la doglia e 'l martire (SSATB) *NEW*
An approximate contemporary of Monteverdi, Rognoni Taeggio came from a prominent musical family and was a virtuoso on several instruments. He was also the author of a well-known treatise on ornamentation, Selva de’ varii passaggi (1620). His florid setting of Marino’s text, for five voices plus optional continuo, seems to fit well with the poet’s extravagant literary style.

Qual sì ferigno ed agghiacciato core (SSATB) *NEW*
Another florid madrigal by Rognoni, this one on a histrionic text of questionable literary merit. Like "Se la doglia," the piece is furnished with an optional "basso per sonare" (a version that includes the continuo part is also available).

Deh Tirsi, anima mia, perdona (prima parte of 2) (SSATB+bc) *NEW*
Rognoni's version of Amarilli's poignant Pastor Fido lament, altered to address a "generic" shepherd Tirsi rather than her beloved Mirtillo. Here the continuo part is obligatory, not optional. See also Monteverdi's "Anima mia, perdona."
